Nirbhaya-like case in Rajkot! Man sexually assaults 6-year-old girl, insert iron rod in her private parts

A six-year-old girl is currently receiving treatment at a government children's hospital in Rajkot after suffering a brutal sexual assault, including the alleged insertion of an iron rod into her private parts, in a village under the Atkot police station jurisdiction. Police have successfully detained the 35-year-old accused, Ramsingh, a farmhand, who has reportedly confessed to the heinous crime. The victim is stable, but the severity of the assault has caused widespread shock.

The assault occurred on December 4 after Ramsingh allegedly kidnapped the girl while her parents were working on a nearby farm. He took her to an isolated spot, assaulted her, and allegedly injured her with a one-foot iron rod. The parents found their daughter bleeding profusely and rushed her to the hospital, which subsequently alerted the police. Due to the shocking nature of the case, authorities immediately formed ten teams to investigate, scrutinizing CCTV footage and telecom data.

The meticulous investigation involved compiling a list of 140 suspects, which was later narrowed down to ten individuals after verifying all alibis. With the assistance of a child counsellor and female police officers, the victim was shown photographs and successfully identified one person. Rajkot Rural SP Vijaysinh Gurjar confirmed that the accused confessed to the crime during questioning, explaining that he became enraged and used the iron rod after his attempt to sexually assault the girl near a water tank around 11:00 AM on December 4 "failed."
